Spring 2008. GSquare's main shareholders throw a gala at the owners' sumptuous mansion in Evanston, IL. Nathan retells the moment.
"They played an old song, “Dancing in the Street.” Susan and I got going with the song—it was like we knew the choreography. And then I realized that everybody was looking at us. People had stopped dancing and were just watching us. There’s magic in being with a celebrity—they, like, captivate everybody’s attention.
"It was a new sensation to be the center of the party. I was dancing with a Hollywood star—literally the most gorgeous woman at the party. I caught Luca’s eyes and smiled at him, as broad as I could do, to say that everything was under control.
"Susan put her arm around mine and said, 'Let’s get a drink.' We stepped out of the dance floor and got two glasses of champagne from a waiter. 'You’re a great dancer,' she told me. 'Dashing good looks and a great physique as well. You should be a model or an actor.'
“Ma’am, that’s so far from, like, my humble life.”
