Congonhas do Campo, Daniel is showing the UNESCO Heritage Site to Nathan, who retells the moment.
"Daniel went around showing me the statues. He knew each one of them, which prophet they stand for, and, like, the meaning of the texts they held. I thought that my parents would love to see it—they also knew all those Prophets from the Bible and would recognize the texts.
"Daniel was totally enthralled by the sculptures. He, like, gestured at them and pointed out their artistic details. I found them nice, but I couldn’t see what made them so special. Yeah, they were made by a leper without hands—that’s an awesome story. But Daniel was seeing something else. He tried to explain it to me, but it went over my head. The only thing that really impressed me about those statues were their eyes. They all had the same almond-shaped eyes as Euclides’."
